On the 21st of January, the Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS) hosted a research seminar titled “Intentionality Framing in Political Rhetoric About Immigration: A Longitudinal Analysis of U.S. Congressional Speech (1880-2020).”
The session was led by Dr. Amine Sijilmassi, a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences. His analysis examined how intentionality framing has shaped U.S. congressional discourse on immigration and its role in the moralization and polarization debates.
The discussion highlighted the influence of language on political narratives and divisions and traced how immigration rhetoric has evolved over time in public and political discourse.
