On December 3rd, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic welcomed a delegation led by Dr. Ashok Gulati, Professor at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), along with representatives from OCP Nutricrops, at its Benguerir Campus.
Dr. Gulati explored the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, the Experimental Farm, and other UM6P facilities, where he met with faculty members to discuss research priorities and potential areas for collaboration in agriculture.
As part of the visit, he delivered a lecture titled “India’s Agricultural Transformation: Insights for Shared Progress”. In his talk, he presented an overview of India’s transition from a food-deficit nation to a food-surplus economy, highlighting the role of policy frameworks and technological innovation in driving growth across agricultural sectors, including rice production.
He examined the contributions of the Green, White, Gene, and Blue Revolutions, and reflected on how the lessons drawn from these experiences could inform efforts by African countries to strengthen and modernize their agricultural systems.
