On the 17th of April, the Geology & Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI), in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS), organized two seminars featuring experts from the University of Sorbonne at the UM6P Campus in Benguerir.
The first session, led by Pr. Hélène Balcone-Boissard, addressed magma dynamics in volcanic systems, focusing on the use of petrological and geochemical tools to analyze processes from magma reservoirs through eruption. The second seminar, presented by Dr. Omar Boudouma, examined the use of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for geoscience and materials characterization.
The program continued with a practical session at the Quantitative Analytical & Molecular Spectroscopy (QAMS) Lab, where participants engaged with instrumentation, data acquisition, and interpretation techniques. These sessions provided complementary perspectives that linked large-scale geological processes to high-resolution analytical methods.
