IAS Seminar Explores Complex Adaptive Systems through Mathematical and Computational Modeling

On September 24, the Institute for Advanced Studies hosted a seminar with resident researcher Tomas Veloz titled “On the Emergence and Evolution of Complex Adaptive Systems: Mathematical, Computational and Interdisciplinary Challenges”, at UM6P Campus in Benguerir.

He examined how complex adaptive systems from ecological networks to socio-technical dynamics can be analyzed through new modelling paradigms.

Tomas introduced Chemical Organization Theory (COT) as a framework to identify self-maintaining modules within reaction networks, providing insights into resilience, emergence, and systemic change across disciplines.
