On September 29, the Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) hosted the first steering committee meeting of the African Mining Diversification Initiative (IDMA), funded by OCP Group, at UM6P Campus in Benguerir.
The initiative supports African mining diversification and governance through research conducted by doctoral candidates from partner countries under joint supervision with UM6P and partner universities. During the meeting, doctoral candidates from the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Guinea presented their progress and received feedback from experts and professors.
IDMA aims to strengthen knowledge of Africa’s mineral potential, improve continental-scale mapping, and promote governance adapted to socio-economic challenges in partner countries.
