On the 13th of October, the Research & Global Scientific Engagement Office organized the first Symposium Day on the Hydrogen and Ammonia initiative in alignment with Morocco’s national decarbonization strategy and OCP’s sustainability vision, within UM6P Campus in Benguerir.
The event gathered researchers and professors from the University, OCP sustainability and innovation leaders, and industrial partners from InnovX and HYDROJEEL to foster dialogue, R&D collaboration, and knowledge exchange on recent developments in hydrogen and green ammonia.
The morning session featured an opening address by Pr. Jones Alami - Chief Research Officer, followed by thematic presentations addressing geological storage potential, catalyst development for ammonia evolution, electrocatalysts for electrolysis, digitalization tools for predictive maintenance, and hydrogen production from low-carbon sources.
During the day, keynote speaker Mr. Amine Houssaim - CEO of INNOVX, highlighted hydrogen versatility and OCP’s leadership in deploying green ammonia programs. The panel discussions also explored strategies to accelerate R&D within the OCP-UM6P ecosystem and levers for developing Morocco’s hydrogen and ammonia economy. The symposium concluded with a commitment to position Morocco as a regional and global player in the hydrogen economy.
