From the 20th to the 22nd of October, the Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS), in collaboration with the Jean Monnet Policy Debate Network NEAR-ER, hosted the International Conference “Africa–Europe Relations in an Age of Global Reshuffle: Diverging Visions, Shared Futures”, at the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic Campus in Rabat.

The opening ceremony featured a speech from Mr. Karim El Aynaoui, Dean of the FGSES and Executive Vice-President of UM6P, alongside Mr. Walter Zampieri, Head of Unit at the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (EAC) of the European Commission. Both emphasized the importance of reinforcing academic and policy dialogue between Africa and Europe in the context of global change.

The conference continued with a roundtable discussion on “Politics, Law and Governance in Reshuffle: Changes in Africa and in Europe”, moderated by Professor Jan Erk, with other contributions from Professors Cristina Alves, Zied Ayari from University of Carthage, Bernadeta Killian (University of Dar es Salaam), and Jan Wouters (KU Leuven).

Bringing together academics and policy experts, the conference served as a platform for reflection on how Africa and Europe can navigate shifting global dynamics and build shared futures amid diverging perspectives.
