Every October, the world turns pink, a universal symbol of hope, strength, and solidarity. The goal is to raise awareness about breast cancer, promote early detection, and support those affected.
As part of the #UM6P_ENGAGED Initiative, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic joins this global movement, reaffirming its commitment to advancing health awareness, prevention, and community well-being.
Since its inception, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, endorsed by the World Health Organization (WHO), has stood as a global call to action, empowering individuals through education, screening, and early intervention. The 2025 theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters,” reminds us that behind every diagnosis lies courage, resilience, and the power of collective support.
In Morocco and across Africa, breast cancer remains a major public health concern, representing both a medical and social challenge. In Morocco alone, it accounts for approximately 36 to 39% of all female cancer cases, and studies show that one in eight women may face this diagnosis in her lifetime. In response, the UM6P Health Center actively promotes prevention and early detection through initiatives organized annually, such as the Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Day.
This Pink October, let us stand together to foster awareness, compassion, and action. Through prevention, early detection, and solidarity, we can save lives and keep hope alive.
