On the 4th of December, the Communications & Public Relations Office, with the support of Executive Education – Science, Health and Technology, launched the first edition of the UM6P Media Academy, within the University’s Campus in Benguerir.
The program is designed to introduce journalists to scientific and technological topics addressed at UM6P and to provide tools that support accurate communication of these themes. The first cohort includes 20 journalists who will follow a six-month training program.
Following the launch, participants began the first module on the 5th of December, which included two sessions: an overview of Earth sciences and their role in understanding and managing natural resources, and an introduction to UM6P’s research ecosystem and the processes through which scientific knowledge develops into innovations.
The opening module provided participants with an initial introduction to the scientific approaches and research dynamics that underpin work at UM6P. The program will be offered on a recurring six-month cycle, with each edition welcoming a cohort of twenty journalists, representing national and African media.
