This week, the two-day From Lab to Market workshop, organized by TI² under the leadership of Mr. Lotfi Belmahi with support from LaunchX, focused on bridging UM6P’s research activities with industrial and economic applications. Representatives from all UM6P research faculties presented technologies currently under development.
In his opening remarks, President Mr. Hicham El Habti highlighted UM6P’s transition from its first decade, focused on building a world-class scientific ecosystem, TRL 1 to 3, state-of-the-art infrastructure, 6,800 publications, and 360 patents. The University is now moving into a new phase: the era of turning ideas into impact. This next stage emphasizes developing scientific capacity and infrastructure, shifting toward applying research in practical ways.
During the workshop, TI² and LaunchX introduced a methodology centered on evaluating demand, market size, and deployment options. Nearly 80 technologies were reviewed during this initial screening; 30 will undergo further assessment, and 10 are expected to advance to the next stage by March.
Sessions addressed operating models, institutional practices, and coordination mechanisms to facilitate the translation of research into practical applications.
