On the 18th of December, the Geology & Sustainable Mining Institute organized a seminar led by Professor Alain Prinzhofer on the theme: “The Promise of Natural Hydrogen: The Energy Revolution Begins,” at the University’s Campus in Benguerir.
During the session, Professor Prinzhofer presented research perspectives on natural hydrogen as a non-fossil energy resource. Drawing on his work in petroleum and isotopic geochemistry, he discussed the geological processes involved in natural hydrogen formation, exploration techniques, and considerations related to resource assessment and potential use.
The seminar covered mantle processes, isotopic signatures, exploration strategies, and technical and economic considerations for developing natural hydrogen. These topics provided a foundation for discussion on the potential role of such resources in energy transition scenarios.
