From the 30th of April to the 2nd of May, the Student Organizations, Leadership and Engagement (SOLE), in collaboration with Al Akhawayn University (AUI), organized “Innovating for Water Resilience and Disaster Risk Reduction” hackathon at UM6P Campus in Benguerir.
The event brought together students and researchers from both institutions to co-develop solutions to address flood risks and water-related hazards in Morocco under the theme “Turning data, nature, and technology into protection.” The program opened with a panel discussion on water resilience and climate risks, featuring experts from academia and industry.
Participants worked in interdisciplinary teams comprising students from multiple UM6P schools and AUI, engaging in ideation and development with mentor guidance. The program concluded with project presentations evaluated by a jury panel.
The initiative provided a collaborative framework for developing applied solutions, supporting cross-institutional exchange, and contributing to approaches that strengthen resilience to climate-related risks.
