UM6P and Université Laval Joined Forces to Advance Biomedical Research and Academic Cooperation

On the 27th of October, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic and Université Laval of Canada signed two cooperation agreements at UM6P Campus in Benguerir during the visit of Ms. Sophie D'Amours, Rector of Université Laval, building on their academic and scientific collaboration established in 2018.

As part of the Canada Africa Scientific Corridor, supported by UM6P GLOBAL HUBS - Canada, the collaboration will foster scientific exchange, joint research initiatives, and stronger ties between the research ecosystems of the two institutions.

The first establishes a framework for academic and scientific collaboration across science and engineering, agriculture, health, education, and the humanities and social sciences, with a focus on academic mobility, joint programs, and collaborative research.

The second agreement established ThéIGen, an International Associated Laboratory, bringing together UM6P’s College of Physical Sciences and Engineering (CPSE) and Faculty of Medical Sciences with Université Laval’s Center for Optics, Photonics and Lasers (COPL) and the CERVO Research Center. The laboratory will focus on multidisciplinary research integrating physics, optics, electrophysiology, and medical biology to develop diagnostic and therapeutic approaches across neuroscience, oncology, and gene therapy.

The program also included meetings with UM6P representatives, a conference on interdisciplinarity organized in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Studies, and visits to UM6P Hospitals, Core Labs, the Digital Learning Center, and 1337 Coding School.
