Passive Seismic Methods Examined for Geotechnical and Hydrogeology Applications

On the 15th of April, the Geology & Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) hosted a session at UM6P Campus in Benguerir focused on passive seismic approaches, with particular attention to the SISSTERRA solution led by Dr. Ayoub Abdelkhalek, a geophysical engineer specializing in geophysical and geotechnical methods, and Dr. Yassine Mounad, CEO of Sixense Maroc.

The discussion addressed how non-invasive technologies contribute to subsurface imaging and the characterization of geological structures. The session brought together experts and participants to examine applications in geotechnical investigations, hydrogeology, and resource management.

Contributions from the Speakers highlighted the operational use of passive seismic methods to improve data acquisition and interpretation for geological analysis.

*SISSTERRA is a high-resolution 3D passive seismic imaging solution developed by Sixense (a VINCI Construction subsidiary) to image and monitor the subsurface (subsoil)
