On the 25th of September, OCP Group and UM6P brought together researchers, experts, and industry professionals at the University's Campus in Benguerir for the Sulfur Multidisciplinary Symposium, dedicated to the strategic challenges surrounding sulfur across the phosphate value chain.
On the sidelines of the event, an agreement establishing the Sulfur Excellence Center (SULFEX) was signed. The initiative aims to further strengthen collaboration between OCP Group and UM6P by bringing together scientific, technological, and industrial expertise to address sulfur-related challenges. SULFEX will help align research with operational priorities, accelerate the development of solutions, and support their transition to industrial application.
Throughout the symposium, discussions focused on four complementary areas: geopolitics, markets and supply chains; geology, exploration and alternative resources; chemistry and processes; and economics and strategy. Participants examined approaches to strengthening resilience through supply diversification, logistical flexibility, exploration of local resources, technological innovation, and circularity.
